The 15th official release from the celebrated Islay distillery, it was drawn from refill European oak butts and bottled at natural cask strength. Limited to just 2,964 individually numbered bottles, this release is particularly significant for its 1983 vintage, capturing whisky distilled during Port Ellen's final year of operation and representing an important chapter in the history of one of Islay's most renowned distilleries. Please note this bottle is stored UNDER BOND at LCB Glasgow. Producer Tasting Notes: Nose: Deeply fruity, developing into rich toffee over fresh, seaside aromas. Soft brown sugar, fruitcake and honey look on. Palate: Sweet, smoky and drying with wood ash, treacle toffee and caramelised orange. Finish: Long finish is cooling, with complex flavours of charred fruit and toffee, deeply herbal and heavy with wood smoke.
