An interesting Italian first half 17th century cedar and pokerwork secretaire cabinet with an extensively fitted interior The exterior with low-relief scrolled stylised foliate, tendril and shaped pattern tablet surrounds, with a hinged top, above a hinged fall front with the central figure of Christ the Lord enthroned below a gothic canopy, flanked by ten assorted saints surmounted by further religious figures reclining upon clouds, enclosing shallow carved scenes from the lives of saints and holy figures, the fitted interior comprised of three large hinged lidded compartments and fifteen secret drawers with each concealed behind a hinged façade, the underside of the lid configured as eighteen panels with each representing a scene from the life of Christ including the adoration of the Magi, flight into Egypt, baptism of Christ, sermon on the mount, raising of Lazarus, the last supper, the crucifixion and resurrection, 99cm wide x 51cm deep x 48cm high, (38 1/2in wide x 20in deep x 18 1/2in high) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * TP * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
