Description
Canadian. 1841-45. Moses Farrar established Canada's first stoneware pottery in St. Johns Lower Canada in 1841. For a short-time, his wares carried the Lower Canada mark after the province switched to being called Canada East. Pieces with the LC mark are exceedingly rare. The form of this 1 gal jar is unusual and may have been for beans. There are three examples of this jar known, including one in the collection of the McCord Museum in Montreal.
