Description
Canadian. 1860-1870. A 2 gal jug from Charles Devlin, family grocer, Bancroft Street, Alymer Canada East. Alymer is about 10 kilometers north west of Ottawa in Quebec. The jug was made by the Hart Pottery in Ogdensburg New York. This pottery is known for its eccentric designs and this one with the large bird head is a perfect example. Extremely rare and unique.

14" tall.
Condition
Very good condition. Stain in lower half. 1/2" flake lip front. Several potstones, the largest to the right of the design. Some fry to the cobalt design. Minor glaze-deep base edge flake.
