A recent single family owned discovery, offered here are 34/40 cards from the 1937 O-Pee-Chee Baseball set. The 1937 O-Pee-Chee baseball set is an extremely scarce Canadian issue featuring some of baseball's most recognizable names. Many of the cards within the 40 card set reside with PSA populations of less than 20. The set was designed with player punch outs with perforated edges around the player body allowing the card owner to stand the card up once punched. Unpunched examples are rare and seldom surface. The group includes many hall of fame inductees including Jimmy Foxx, Hank Greenberg, Luke Appling, Lefty Grove, Earl Averill, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, Joe Cronin, Rick Ferrell and Red Ruffing. The set is missing Goose Goslin, Charlie Gehringer, Zeke Bonura, Joe Dimaggio, Bob Feller, and Rogers Hornsby. Condition
This recently found group resides in overall very good condition. The 1937 cards graded within this catalogue are apart of the same find and represent the average of the group quite well. Notably, Jimmy Foxx has excellent eye appeal with toning and bubbling to reverse side edges, Hank Greenberg has minor toning to front surface with bubbling and toning to reverse, Luke Appling is excellent+, Bill Dickey is very good with very minor surface toning and minor bubbling to reverse, Joe Cronin has minor toning to bottom edge facing side and minor bubbling/toning to reverse top and bottom edges, Rick Ferrell is excellent, Red Ruffing is excellent+, Lefty Grove has bubbling on reverse and toning to front surface. 14/34 cards exhibit the bubbling/staining to their reverse sides as described above. All cards are shown to display their reverse side condition. The cards are crease free and untouched with, in general, superb eye appeal.
