Sourced from the Savelli Family Collection, this all star game jersey is attributed to All-Star Lineman Ed Bevan from his tenure as an All-Star in 1955. Included in the group are four programs which partially document Bevan's wearing of this jersey. The 1955 Shrine East-West All-Star Game marked the first meeting of Canadian football's top Eastern and Western players in an All-Star format. Played December 3 at Toronto's Varsity Stadium, just one week after the Grey Cup, the inaugural contest drew more than 15,000 spectators despite wet and muddy conditions and ended in a 6–6 tie. The game featured many of the era's leading players, including Jackie Parker, Normie Kwong, Sam Etcheverry and Hal Patterson, with Hamilton's Ed Bevan selected to the Eastern All-Star defensive squad. In 1955, Ed Bevan wore darks #52, offered here, for the Eastern All Stars. The following year, 1956, Bevan wore the same number but in White. Ed Bevan was a mainstay of Hamilton football during the postwar era, joining the Tigers in 1945 and continuing through the 1959 season. A two-way player who lined up at guard and on defense, Bevan was twice named an East Division All-Star and was a member of Hamilton's 1953 Grey Cup championship team. His more than 130 games with the Hamilton organization earned him recognition among the club's best linemen of the professional era and a place on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats All-Time Team. Also included in the group is the 1955 Inaugural All-Star Game Program, the 1956 All-Star Game Program, the 1957 Grey Cup Program featuring Bevan and the 1955 First All Star Game Dinner Menu.
