Austrian School, 16th Century Scenes from the Passion of Christ oil on panel 45.5 x 32.5cm (17 15/16 x 12 13/16in). Footnotes: Provenance Private Collection, Australia Sale, Bonhams, London, 7 December 2022, lot 44, where acquired The coat-of-arms that appears in two places on the present panel, which shows argent a fess gules on a double-headed sable eagle, would appear to be a misinterpretation of the Austrian Habsburg coat-of-arms (gules a fess argent on a double-headed sable eagle). The reason for this would most likely have been because the composition was derived from a monochrome print.
