Astolfo Petrazzi (Italian, 1579-1665) The Holy Family with the Infant Saint John the Baptist oil on canvas 61 x 47cm (24 x 18 1/2in). Footnotes: Provenance Private Collection Art market, New Orleans Sale, Sotheby's, London, 5 December 2024, lot 146, where acquired The present work appears to be an early work by the artist, comparable to The Virgin and Child with Saint Catherine of Siena in the Chigi Saracini collection. It has been suggested that the landscape beyond The Holy Family depicts Radicofani and the rolling hills in Siena. We are grateful to Dott. Marco Ciampoloni for proposing the attribution to Petrazzi, upon inspection of colour photographs.
