A *German WWII "Hanomag" Luftschutz M34 Helmet in good condition. The Hanomag M34 Luftschutz helmet was a German civil-defense helmet used during the 1930s and World War II, particularly by personnel involved in industrial air-raid protection (Werkluftschutz). The helmet is associated with Hanomag, the Hannover-based machinery and vehicle manufacturer, whose factories required organized protection against Allied bombing raids. Personnel wearing these helmets could have been responsible for duties such as air-raid protection, firefighting, rescue, and securing factory facilities during attacks. Unlike standard German military helmets, the M34 was primarily intended for civilian and industrial air-defense organizations, making surviving Hanomag-marked examples a reminder of the extensive air-raid-defense system that operated within German industry during the war.
