Davis (1878-1961) was an American-born art dealer and jewelry designer who moved to Mexico in 1910 and became an influential figure in the revival of Mexican silverwork. Through his work with the Sonora News Company and later Sanborn's in Mexico City, he collaborated with local silversmiths to produce jewelry inspired by Pre-Columbian art and Mexican folk traditions, often incorporating amethyst, turquoise, obsidian, and jade. A passionate advocate for Mexican arts and crafts, Davis also helped introduce William Spratling's early silver designs to a wider audience, contributing to the emergence of Mexico's modern silver movement.
