LOS CASTILLO: A SILVER BIB NECKLACE • Stamped LOS CASTILLO, TAXCO, MADE IN MEXICO, STERLING • Length at interior approx. 14 1/2 in. • Estimated gross weight: 81.70 grams Footnotes: Los Castillo Taller was established in 1939 following the Castillo brothers' tenure with William Spratling's Taller Las Delicias. Drawing inspiration from Mexican culture and heritage, including pre-Columbian art, indigenous motifs and the natural world, the workshop gained international acclaim for its fusion of traditional craftmanship and modern aesthetics. Emilia Castillo, the daughter of Antonio, would learn the skills of her father and uncles at a young age, eventually selling her work through retailers such as Neiman Marcus starting in the 1990s; her daughter, Cristina Romo Castillo, would in turn develop her own practice, carrying on the family's legacy to this day.
