AN EMBROIDERED SILK 'LION' PANEL Meiji period, late 19th/early 20th century Finely worked in silk and cotton threads, deploying long and short stitches, flat and twisted threads in a palette of brown, beige, cream with areas of raised decoration, depicting a recumbent lion against a cream embroidered background, within a silk brocade mounted lacquered wood frame, glazed. The panel 43cm (17in) high x 59cm (23 1/4in) wide.
