Title: Vintage Persian Qashqai Tribal Wool Rug 160 x 117 cm
Description: Vintage Persian Qashqai Tribal Wool Rug

A striking vintage Persian Qashqai tribal rug, hand-knotted in wool in southern Iran and dating from the mid-20th century.

The rug features a rich red field centred by a large stepped diamond medallion, surrounded by a wonderfully varied arrangement of stylised animals, birds, floral forms and traditional geometric tribal motifs.
Bold hooked devices occupy the dark corner spandrels, while multiple geometric borders, including a contrasting ivory-ground main border, frame the composition.

The warm palette combines rich reds with deep brown, ivory, blue, ochre, green and orange.
Subtle variations in colour and the charming irregularity of the drawing give the rug the distinctive character associated with traditional Qashqai tribal weaving.

Good vintage condition with general wear consistent with age.
Wear to the fringed ends.
Colours good and presents well.
