CIRCLE OF JOHN ALFRED WHEELER (BRITISH 1821-1903)
FARMYARD FRIENDS
Oil on canvas
46 x 61cm (18 x 24in.)
Unframed

Condition Report:
The work is unframed and has not been relined. Inspection under UV light reveals an uneven masking varnish which makes it tricky to read. Nevertheless, there appears to be scattered areas of enhanced retouching to the grey's cheek, shoulder, back, flanks and rump. The canvas has started to wear at the corners over the stretcher, and there are fait stretcher mark impression seen in raked light. There a one or two losses to the extreme edges of the work, and in the top right and lower left corner.
