Details:
William Howard Taft autographed typed letter (TLS), one page, approximately 8 x 10.5", on Supreme Court of the United States stationery, dated May 6, 1922, and addressed to Solicitor General James M. Beck. Taft has signed prominently at the conclusion in black ink.
Taft thanks Beck for sending a copy of his statement before the Judiciary Committee, noting that he had only glanced at it because he had just returned from Hampton and had been "hurried into matters." He adds, "I have already expressed to you the gratitude the Court feels for your strong presentation."
Fine condition with expected light age toning.
William Howard Taft (1857-1930) served as Chief Justice of the United States from 1921 to 1930, following his earlier service as the 27th President of the United States.
