Details:
Charles Evans Whittaker autographed First Day Cover (FDC) commemorating the fight against polio and the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, later known as the March of Dimes.
The cover features an illustrated ArtCraft cachet depicting a young girl wearing leg braces and using crutches, accompanied by the inscription "Remember Me" and "Join the March of Dimes." The design commemorates the foundation's 20th anniversary and its efforts to combat infantile paralysis.
Affixed at the upper right is a purple 3-cent commemorative postage stamp honoring those who helped fight polio, with a Washington, D.C., First Day of Issue cancellation. The stamp was first issued on January 15, 1957, recognizing the medical professionals, researchers, and volunteers whose efforts helped bring about the development of an effective polio vaccine.
Whittaker has autographed the cover vertically in blue ink near the center, signing "Charles E. Whittaker."
An interesting Supreme Court autograph associated with one of the most significant public health campaigns of the 20th century.
