Original invitation to the luncheon honoring President John F. Kennedy, scheduled for November 22, 1963, at the Dallas Trade Mart in Dallas, Texas.

The elegantly printed invitation was issued by the Dallas Citizens Council, the Dallas Assembly, and the Science Research Center, requesting attendance at a luncheon honoring President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson, and Texas Governor John Connally and his wife, Nellie.

The invitation reads, in part:

"At a luncheon in honor of The President and Mrs. Kennedy, The Vice-President and Mrs. Johnson, The Governor and Mrs. Connally, Friday the twenty-second of November at twelve noon, The Trade Mart."

The upper portion bears an affixed 13-cent John F. Kennedy postage stamp with a Dallas, Texas, postal cancellation. The invitation is accompanied by its original envelope.

An extraordinary piece of Kennedy assassination history associated with the luncheon President Kennedy was traveling to attend when he was assassinated in Dealey Plaza. The luncheon was canceled, and Kennedy's prepared remarks were never delivered.

The invitation measures approximately 7 x 9.75 inches. Fine condition with light age toning, minor handling wear, and an original horizontal fold. The accompanying envelope exhibits some toning and discoloration along its edges and flap.

John F. Kennedy (1917–1963) served as the 35th President of the United States from 1961 until his assassination in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. Kennedy was traveling in a presidential motorcade with First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and Texas Governor John Connally when he was fatally shot while passing through Dealey Plaza.

The planned luncheon at the Dallas Trade Mart was intended to feature an address by Kennedy to approximately 2,500 business and civic leaders. Instead, the events of November 22, 1963, became one of the defining tragedies of American history.
