Jack H. Lucas (1928–2008) was a United States Marine and Medal of Honor recipient for extraordinary heroism during the Battle of Iwo Jima. On February 20, 1945, the 17-year-old Lucas threw himself over two Japanese grenades to shield fellow Marines, pulling one beneath his body and covering the other with his hand. He survived the explosions and became the youngest Marine of World War II to receive the Medal of Honor.
