Fred Lasswell (1916-2001) was an American cartoonist best known for his decades-long work on the classic comic strip Barney Google and Snuffy Smith. After beginning his career as an assistant to creator Billy DeBeck, Lasswell eventually took over the strip and continued drawing it for more than 50 years. His energetic line work and distinctive hill-country characters helped make Snuffy Smith one of the enduring fixtures of American newspaper comics.
