Details:
James Tod manuscript receipt signed, dated for the quarter beginning May 19, 1795. The receipt documents educational expenses incurred by Alexander and Robert McGregor during the quarter beginning May 19, 1795, including charges for board and washing, tuition, books, and other costs. Surviving eighteenth-century financial records relating to education are comparatively scarce and provide valuable insight into the expense and administration of schooling during the early years of the United States.
Very good condition overall with expected horizontal and vertical mailing folds, scattered age toning, light staining, edge wear, and minor paper loss along the margins. Additional contemporary accounting notations appear on the verso.
