Details:
William Henry Moody autographed bank check, dated May 2, 1906, drawn on the Haverhill National Bank of Haverhill, Massachusetts. The check features Moody's printed name prominently across the top and is personally signed "W. H. Moody" at the lower right.
An interesting financial document dating from Moody's service as Attorney General of the United States under President Theodore Roosevelt, just months before his appointment to the United States Supreme Court.
Moody is also remembered for his prominent role in the sensational 1893 murder trial of Lizzie Borden in Fall River, Massachusetts. Serving as one of the prosecutors, Moody helped present the Commonwealth's case against Borden, who was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with a hatchet. The nationally publicized trial ended in her acquittal and remains one of the most famous criminal cases in American history.
The check features the attractive blue-green security printing of the Haverhill National Bank, with additional bank endorsements, cancellation stamps, and perforated cancellation markings.
Fine condition with expected bank cancellations, light age toning, scattered staining, and minor handling wear.
