Tom Wilson (1931-2011) was an American cartoonist best known as the creator of the internationally syndicated comic strip Ziggy. Introduced in 1971, the strip followed the humorous everyday frustrations and misadventures of its round-headed, perpetually optimistic title character. Ziggy became one of the most recognizable newspaper comic characters of the late 20th century and was eventually continued by Wilson's son, Tom Wilson II.
