Details:
Josiah Royce autographed handwritten letter signed (ALS), dated April 23, 1902, from 103 Irving Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Written and signed entirely in Royce's hand, the three-page letter is written on both sides of a single folded sheet measuring approximately 5.25 x 8 inches when folded.
Addressed to Mrs. James Breck Perkins, Royce encloses a check for ten dollars in payment of his dues for 1901-1902 in the National Institute of Arts and Letters. He explains that dues for 1901 and 1902 had remained unpaid and that he was unaware of having received an account or request for the earlier dues. Royce apologizes for the oversight and mentions being occupied in New York at the time of year when the institute's meetings occurred, which may have caused him to overlook correspondence. He closes the letter "Yours Very Truly, Josiah Royce."
An interesting letter concerning Royce's membership in the National Institute of Arts and Letters, written during his long tenure at Harvard University.
Near fine condition.
