John Taylor Gilman autographed militia commission document appointing Henry Mason as a lieutenant in the Second Company of the Twentieth Regiment of Militia in the State of New Hampshire. Dated June 9, 1815, the partially printed document measures approximately 14.25 x 12 inches and is signed by Governor John Taylor Gilman. The commission bears the embossed seal of the State of New Hampshire and includes the completed oath of office on the lower portion, signed before a justice of the peace.
Expected age toning, scattered foxing, fold lines, and moderate edge wear including small separations and losses at several fold intersections. The embossed state seal remains visible, and the signatures and manuscript entries are clear and well preserved.
