Details:
Bob Jackson autographed 10 x 8-inch black-and-white photograph depicting one of the most famous images in American photojournalism: the moment nightclub owner Jack Ruby shot accused presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, in the basement of Dallas Police Headquarters.
The photograph captures the precise instant Ruby fired his revolver into Oswald's abdomen as Dallas police detectives escorted the prisoner through the basement toward a waiting vehicle. Oswald is seen recoiling from the gunshot, his face contorted in pain, while Dallas Police Detective Jim Leavelle, wearing a light-colored suit and cowboy hat, stands handcuffed to Oswald at left.
Photographed by Dallas Times Herald photographer Robert H. "Bob" Jackson, the extraordinary image became one of the defining photographs of the Kennedy assassination and its aftermath. Jackson's perfectly timed exposure captured the shooting as it unfolded before television cameras and assembled members of the press. The photograph earned Jackson the 1964 Pulitzer Prize for Photography.
Autographed by Jackson in black ink across the lower left portion of the image, adding the date "4/15/2020" beneath his signature.
The photograph measures 10 x 8 inches. Fine condition.
