An important personal photograph album originating from the family of Laura Garello, Enzo Ferrari's wife and mother of Dino Ferrari, and believed to have belonged to one of Dino's cousins on the Garello side of the family.
Preserved in its original lacquered Japanese-style binding, the album contains approximately 90 photographs, principally dating from the early 1950s to the early 1970s, documenting family holidays, weddings and everyday life through contemporary photographs and handwritten captions.
Among them are three original photographs of Dino Ferrari. One is a formal portrait, captioned simply “Dino Ferrari”, while two further photographs were taken at Viserba in 1955 and show Dino together with his companion Ines in an informal holiday setting. The reverse of the boating photograp bears the contemporary handwritten inscription “Tanti baci, Dino” (“Many kisses, Dino”), as well as "Saluti da Viserba, Ines" (Greetings from Viserba, Ines).
The particular significance of the group lies in the context in which these photographs have survived. Rather than isolated images subsequently assembled as Ferrari memorabilia, they remain within the family album in which they were preserved, surrounded by photographs relating to the wider Garello family and its private life.
Museum quality.
