A photocopy of the official Italian Libretto di Lavoro (Work Book) issued to Renzo Medici, recording his complete employment history from the early 1940s through to his retirement from Ferrari after more than three decades of service.
Issued by the Comune di Castellarano, the work book identifies Medici, born in Sassuolo on 25 September 1926, and records each stage of his working life through official employer entries, salary revisions, promotions and employment classifications.
Of particular significance are the Ferrari entries documenting Medici's long career at Maranello. The book records his appointment to Ferrari in July 1947, together with the successive changes in his position, remuneration and technical grade over the following thirty-one years. Beginning as a specialised worker (operaio specializzato), the entries chart his steady advancement through Ferrari's organisation before his promotion into the technical staff, ultimately recording his employment as a technical employee (Impiegato Tecnico) and concluding with his retirement on 30 November 1978.
Renzo Medici joined Ferrari in October 1947 and remained with the company until 1985, eventually becoming Head of Parts Production in Reparto Corse. His career spanned the transformation of Ferrari from a small post-war manufacturer into one of the world's leading racing and sports car constructors. This work book captures the earlier decades of that remarkable career and provides a rare, uninterrupted record of his progression through the company during one of Ferrari's most important periods of growth.
