An exceptional original Ferrari factory engineering drawing for the front timing case (Scatola distribuzione anteriore) of the Tipo 031 turbocharged Formula One engine, produced during the development of Ferrari's 1985 Formula One programme.
Executed by Ferrari's Gestione Sportiva Uffici Tecnici at a full 1:1 scale, the blueprint measures approximately 170 × 103 cm and is printed on original Ferrari watermarked paper. The title block identifies drawing number 031-221102, records an issue date of 24 October 1984, and specifies the component for the Tipo 031 engine.
The drawing also notes the nickel chemical surface treatment (Riporto di Nichel Chimico), reflecting Ferrari's meticulous production specifications for one of the engine's principal castings.
The drawing originates from the estate of Renzo Medici, who joined Ferrari in 1947 and spent almost four decades with the company, ultimately becoming Head of Parts Production in Reparto Corse. Preserved directly from his personal archive, it offers a rare insight into the engineering processes behind Ferrari's turbocharged Formula One engines during the mid-1980s.
Hole-punched, folded as originally supplied.
