An original telegram of condolence dated 16.6.79 sent by Enzo Ferrari to Lina Caniato following the death of her husband, Alfredo Caniato, one of the earliest and most important figures in Scuderia Ferrari's history.
Addressed to Mrs. Caniato at her home in Bologna, Ferrari writes: "I have just received your letter of the 10th and have learned of the passing of our dear friend Alfredo, whom I remember from 1929 as the first President of the newly founded Scuderia Ferrari. With profound sorrow, dear Madam, I ask you to accept the expression of my deepest condolences."
More than a simple expression of sympathy, the telegram provides a rare personal reflection from Ferrari himself on the origins of Scuderia Ferrari. By recalling Alfredo Caniato specifically as the first President of the newly founded Scuderia Ferrari in 1929, Ferrari acknowledges his place at the very beginning of the organisation's history and pays tribute to a friendship spanning half a century.
