A remarkable archive of original business documents charting one of the most significant periods in the history of Carrozzeria Scaglietti, documenting the company's expansion from a small Modenese coachbuilder into Ferrari's principal body constructor. The archive begins with Scaglietti's 1959–60 applications for industrial financing under the Italian government's Law 623, together with Centrobanca loan agreements, Banco San Geminiano credit facilities and supporting documentation relating to the construction of a new purpose-built factory.
Particularly significant is the detailed investment proposal submitted by Sergio Scaglietti himself. In it he explains that the workshop allocated to him following the division of the original company was too small for Ferrari production and records his decision to purchase a 5,294 square metre site on the outskirts of Modena, where he planned the construction of a new 1,080 square metre factory. The document states that the new premises were specifically intended to support increasing Ferrari production. Even more remarkable is the production forecast contained within the application. Scaglietti records an order for 100 Ferrari GT bodies at Lire 750,000 each, together with an expectation of approximately Lire 70–80 million of annual work from Ferrari, compared with only Lire 5–10 million from private customers.
The documents also describe plans for a rationalised production line, increased employment and substantially higher output, illustrating the rapidly expanding relationship between Ferrari and Scaglietti at the dawn of the 1960s. The archive further includes an exceptional three-page declaration submitted by Sergio Scaglietti to the Modena Tax Office in October 1964. In this highly personal statement, Scaglietti explains in his own words why the original Scaglietti partnership with Francesco Marchesi and Lino Sala was dissolved, stating that he wished to devote the company's future almost exclusively to Ferrari production, while his partners preferred to concentrate on general coachbuilding and repair work.
He also records the division of the Monte Kosica workshops and the allocation of machinery following the liquidation of the partnership. Completing the archive are later documents tracing the continuing development of the business, including the lease of the former Monte Kosica workshop, amendments to the original industrial financing agreements, and 1971–72 Carrozzeria Scaglietti S.p.A. dividend certificates demonstrating the company's subsequent corporate growth.
Taken together, these documents provide an unusually complete documentary record of one of the defining moments in Ferrari history. Rather than simply recording financial transactions, they reveal—through contemporary official paperwork and Sergio Scaglietti's own written testimony—how increasing Ferrari demand drove the construction of a new factory, the restructuring of the business, and the emergence of Carrozzeria Scaglietti as Ferrari's dedicated coachbuilder. Preserved together in their original and exceptionally rare printed Carrozzeria Scaglietti card archive folder, the collection survives as an intact business archive from one of Ferrari's most important collaborators.
