An interesting documentary archive relating to Ferrari 365 GTB/4 chassis 15965 and its transformation from road car to N.A.R.T. competition entrant for the 1975 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The collection is centred around original Luigi Chinetti Motors correspondence with the United States Customs Service, written following the car's sale to David Ward in June 1975 and confirming that chassis 15965 remained in Europe to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans before being shipped directly to the United States with the North American Racing Team's other competition cars. A subsequent letter further explains that the purchase price reflected the extensive work undertaken to convert the car into a competition machine, providing a rare contemporary account of the preparation of a road-going Daytona for international endurance racing. Accompanying these is a Competition Daytona Data sheet recording the car's ownership, Le Mans entry, drivers and later research notes. Everything is housed in the Chinetti archive card folder labelled 15965.
