Jo Gough is a Cheshire-based contemporary artist whose vibrant, uplifting paintings celebrate colour, happiness and the emotional connections we have with the places and people we love. A self-taught artist, Jo's creative journey took an unconventional route. Despite a lifelong passion for drawing and painting, she initially pursued a career in IT, spending 30 years in the industry before following her heart and embracing art professionally.
Working primarily in acrylics, Jo has developed a distinctive style characterised by rich textures, bold colour combinations and meticulous attention to detail. Her work spans colourful cityscapes and iconic landmarks to expressive florals, trees and her much-loved heart paintings, each reflecting her optimistic outlook and passion for creating art that makes people feel good.
A turning point came in 2013 when Jo was commissioned to paint Liverpool's iconic waterfront, inspiring her exploration of architecture and nostalgic locations. She later expanded her practice into more expressive, nature-inspired compositions, bringing the same energy and individuality to every canvas.
Working from her home studio in Cheshire, Jo creates joyful, instantly recognisable paintings that celebrate life's brighter moments. Her work is also represented by Gallery 38 in St Ives, Cornwall.
