Title: Jurij Grigorovič | 'Heat' | Mixed Media On Canvas | Original

Description: Jurij Grigorovič -  'Heat'

'Heat' is a richly layered abstract painting inspired by the colours, atmosphere and unforgettable landscapes of Morocco. The inspiration behind this original work comes from Jurij Grigorovič's time spent on an extraordinary filmmaking expedition in the Sahara Desert, where he spent almost six months immersed in the surrounding environment. The experience left a lasting visual impression, influencing the warm, earthy palette and expressive energy of this composition. Jurij captures something of the intensity, mystery and atmosphere of the desert without depicting it literally.
With an extensive career as a production designer in international cinema, Jurij brings a distinctive approach to visual storytelling. His paintings transform personal memories, emotions and experiences into expressive abstract worlds, allowing viewers to discover their own interpretations.
Full of warmth, depth and character, this piece is a fascinating example of how a place can leave its mark on an artist long after the journey has ended.

Jurij Grigorovič is a Lithuanian-Ukrainian artist, film production designer and director whose creative career has taken him across the worlds of international cinema and contemporary art.
With decades of experience creating visual environments for film, Jurij brings a fascinating perspective to his paintings. His work in cinema has included collaborations on internationally recognised productions, with his achievements earning him a Silver Crane award for Best Production Design in 2016 and a nomination at the 2006 News & Documentary Emmy Awards.
Alongside his film career, Jurij has developed an extensive practice as a painter, exhibiting internationally across Europe and beyond. His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in cities including London, Vilnius, Prague and Kyiv, and is held in private collections around the world.
For Jurij, painting offers something different from the collaborative world of filmmaking. It's a space for experimentation, freedom and exploring the ideas and emotions that are often difficult to put into words.
His abstract compositions bring together unusual textures, expressive colour and an almost cinematic sense of atmosphere. Inspired by personal experiences, subconscious imagery and philosophical reflections, each piece invites viewers into a world that feels both deeply personal and open to interpretation.
There's a wonderful connection between his two creative worlds. Whether building an environment for the screen or creating something entirely his own on canvas, Jurij's work is driven by curiosity, imagination and the endless possibilities of visual storytelling.
