Description
S#: NSN | 48" Octagonal Barrel | Approx. .32 Caliber. Bore measures 8.5mm (.315") | Antique 19th-century American percussion Kentucky/Pennsylvania-style long rifle featuring an exceptionally long 48” heavy octagonal barrel and traditional full-length wood stock. Features percussion ignition, double-set triggers, fixed front and rear sights, long hinged brass patchbox, brass buttplate and toe plate, brass ramrod pipes/furniture and wooden ramrod. The exceptionally long octagonal barrel and slender full-stock architecture are characteristic of the traditional American long rifle. Percussion system may represent an early-period conversion from flintlock, although the present configuration does not provide enough visible evidence to conclusively establish conversion. No legible maker marking is presently visible |||| CONDITION: Poor. Considerable pitting on the barrel, lockplate, and hammer. Lockplate is slightly raised from the surrounding wood. Stock remains reasonably solid. Includes full-length ramrod. Overall suitable as a wall hanger. Does not currently mechanically function. Hammer exhibits excessive spring tension and does not operate properly, although the triggers appear to move ||||| CLASS: BLACKPOWDER
