Description
This traditional short samurai sword (wakizashi) features a highly collectible, ancient blade dating back to the early-to-mid 1500s (Koto or "Old Sword" period). The handle tang is signed by Kanesada, a legendary lineage of master swordsmiths from the Mino province. It is crafted in a rare, sleek style modeled after an iris leaf (shobu zukuri) that smoothly tapers to the point without a distinct dividing ridge line (yokote) marking the tip (kissaki), and features a beautifully straight heat-tempered edge line (suguha hamon). The blade is housed in later-era, 1900s samurai-style fittings (mounts) from the late feudal era (Edo period), featuring a classic wrapped grip (traditional tsuka), a heavy iron handguard (tsuba), and a black glossy wooden scabbard (lacquered saya) that cleverly holds a small, built-in utility knife (kozuka) – Measures 7.5 in. Overall Length. Despite minor surface scratches, both the blade and its protective parts remain in very good condition |||| MEASUREMENTS: Scabbard Length: Approx. 16 in. | Blade Length (Nagasa - guard to tip): Approx. 13.5 in. | Total Blade Length (Tip to tang heel): Approx. 17 in.*Sourced from a reputable and trustworthy private collection*
