Antique U.S. Army Model 1903 mounted cavalry cartridge belt designed to carry .45 caliber ammunition in individual woven canvas cartridge loops. Features heavy khaki-colored woven canvas construction with an unusual cavalry configuration incorporating cartridge loops at both ends and a completely flat, loop-free center section. This arrangement was intended for mounted troops, allowing greater comfort while seated in a saddle by preventing cartridges from pressing against the soldier's abdomen. The belt features reinforced stitching, metal retaining wires, adjustable sections, and brass-colored fastening hardware.
