Description
S#: NSN | 30.5" Octagonal Barrel | Approx. .36 Caliber. Bore shows some rifling and measures 9.2mm (.360") | Fine antique 19th-century Pennsylvania/Kentucky-style percussion long rifle by E.K. Tryon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Octagonal barrel clearly marked “TRYON. PHILADA.” Particularly attractive example featuring a highly figured curly/tiger maple full-length stock and an elaborate engraved brass patchbox with decorative pierced and scalloped elements, finial and starburst engraving. Additional features include percussion ignition, double-set triggers, fixed front and rear sights, brass trigger guard with curled rear spur, brass sideplate and brass crescent buttplate. The combination of highly figured maple and extensive decorative brass furniture gives this rifle considerably more visual appeal than a typical plain-finished period sporting rifle |||| CONDITION: Moderate. Attractive wood stock with nice grain and decorative inlays. Metal exhibits a predominantly brown antique patina with considerable finish wear. Includes ramrod. Mechanically functions inconsistently at both full and half cock when the set trigger is engaged. Set trigger and main trigger operate, but the hammer does not hold securely and may release unexpectedly without a trigger pull ||||| CLASS: BLACKPOWDER
