A COPPER REPOUSSE TRIAD OF SHIVA AND TWO GODDESSES NEPAL, 16TH CENTURY With traces of gilding. Himalayan Art Resources item no. 207032 12 cm (4 3/4 in.) high Footnotes: 尼泊爾 十六世紀 錘揲濕婆及二女神銅飾板 Provenance Canadian Private Collection, since late 1990s Shiva, identified by his third eye, sits in graceful repose atop a lotus pedestal, his four arms holding distinct attributes of his divine persona, most notably the trident (trishula) held prominently in his upper left hand. Seated on his lap are two smaller figures, likely Parvati and the river goddess Ganga. Loops at the apex and holes at the base suggest that the image was intended to be worn as a pendant or stitched to clothing as an amulet. Triadic compositions of Shiva accompanied by two goddesses are relatively rare in Hindu imagery. However, a 14th century example of this subject was sold at Bonhams, Hong Kong, 30 October 2025, lot 822.
