Famous for her Spider sculptures and Cell work, one of the last projects Louise Bourgeois completed before her death.
Emins titled 'Do Not Abandon Me' originated with Bourgeois, who began the works by painting male and female torsos in profile on paper, mixing red, blue and black gouache pigments with water to create delicate and fluid silhouettes. Bourgeois then passed the images on to Emin.
Tracey Emins involvement took Bourgeois's initial body form concepts and overlaid them with her iconic fantasy smaller figures, phalluses, script text and art titles to the suite of 16 prints.
Entitled 'I held your sperm and cried' a worshipping Emin figure kneels below a royal blue phallus.
In one of the suite, a woman kisses an erect phallus; in another, a small fetus-like form protrudes from a swollen belly. Many of the 16 piece suite, Emin's handwriting inscribes the images with a narrative, putting into words the emotions expressed in Bourgeois's vibrant gouaches.
This suite of 16 prints was one of the last projects Louise Bourgeois completed before her death.
