Charles W. Lindberg (1920–2007) was a United States Marine Corps corporal and World War II veteran best remembered as a participant in the first American flag raising atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945.

Serving with the 28th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division, Lindberg was among the Marines who carried the first American flag to the summit of Mount Suribachi and helped raise it over the island. The event was a powerful moment of triumph during one of the bloodiest battles of the Pacific War.

The original flag was subsequently replaced with a larger flag, resulting in the iconic photograph taken by Joe Rosenthal that became one of the most recognizable images in American military history. For decades, Lindberg worked to preserve the historical distinction between the first and second flag raisings and to ensure that the men involved in the initial raising received recognition for their actions.
