An interesting example of diplomatic-era correspondence from a prominent and controversial figure in Imperial Germany.

The letter measures approximately 5.25 x 8.25 inches. Fine condition with light age toning and minor handling wear.
Philipp, Prince of Eulenburg (1847–1921), was a German diplomat, composer, and influential member of the inner circle of Kaiser Wilhelm II. He served as German Ambassador to Austria-Hungary from 1894 to 1902 and exercised considerable informal influence over the Kaiser's political decisions and personal relationships. His career and reputation were devastated by the Harden-Eulenburg Affair, a series of public accusations and legal proceedings beginning in 1907 involving allegations of homosexual relationships among members of the Kaiser's entourage. The scandal became one of the most consequential political and social controversies of Imperial Germany, contributing to Eulenburg's withdrawal from public life and provoking widespread debate over sexuality, morality, and political influence.
