We are pleased to offer a fine and highly decorative Louis XV style bureau plat. Veneered to the whole in a rich floral and foliate marquetry inlay with impressive gilt metal mounts

The rectangular top is decorated with flowering sprays upon quarter-veneered grounds, enclosed by scrolling marquetry borders and a gilt metal edge. The shaped frieze is fitted with five drawers arranged around the central kneehole, each decorated with conforming floral and foliate motifs and fitted with decorative gilt metal handles.

Raised on elegant cabriole legs, the bureau plat is further embellished throughout with finely cast foliate gilt metal mounts and terminates in conforming sabots.

A particularly decorative writing desk of good proportions, displaying attractive colour. The inlay to the whole including the reverse allows the desk to stand in the centre of a room.

Late 20th century. Offered in good condition. Some little marks and wear to the veneer including little age related losses and bubbling. Good colour. and attractive mounts and handles. Presents very well
