A now very scarce and visually striking Pictorial Wall Map, produced during the 1870's by G. W. Bacon & Co. in The Strand, London

The map illustrates a wealth of facts and knowledge of the world as it was when published. The top of the wall map has a large bold title running across its width. In each of the four corners are portraits of famous explorers through time (James Cook, David Livingston, Christopher Columbus, Walter Raleigh). There are two blocks of text concerning Great Battles of the World. These are listed in alphabetical order from Actium to Warsaw, complete with the commencement dates of each battle, and the victors of each battle.
