Dan Morphy Auctions acquires James D. Julia’s Antique Advertising, Toy & Doll division

MorphyLogoDENVER, Pa. – Dan Morphy, founder and CEO of Dan Morphy Auctions LLC, today announced his company’s acquisition of James D. Julia Auctioneers’ Antique Advertising, Toy & Doll division. Effective immediately, all of the acquired division’s operations will be absorbed into Morphy’s own existing Toy, Doll and Antique Advertising departments, which are headquartered in a state-of-the-art, 45,000-square-foot venue in Denver (Lancaster County), Pennsylvania.

“Morphy’s is excited to welcome Julia’s past consignors and clients to our company,” said Dan Morphy. “We have long admired Julia’s sterling reputation for honesty and fair dealings with their clients, and we look forward to serving their clients in the future.”

Based in Fairfield, Maine, James D. Julia Inc., is headed by president and auctioneer James D. Julia, who established the firm in 1974 after buying a smaller auction operation from his father, Arthur Julia. Since then, the firm has distinguished itself not only in the sale of toys, dolls and antique advertising, but also several other specialties that will continue to function as the cornerstones of Julia’s business.

James D. Julia commented that the sale of his company’s Antique Advertising, Toy & Doll division to Morphy’s “made tremendous sense” in light of his own expansion plans.

“I have watched Dan’s company grow over the years, have admired his success and always found him to be a great competitor,” Julia said. “In my mind, Dan’s company is the leader in the world today for toys, advertising and coin op, etc. I thus felt that my past customers would best be served by his firm.”

Another consideration that led Julia to conclude that Morphy’s was the right choice was Dan Morphy’s willingness to provide a position for some of his company’s “long-term, loyal consultants.” Among them is Jay Lowe, an expert consultant to Julia’s who played a key role in the production of many of their most successful toy, doll and coin-op sales.

All Morphy sales utilize LiveAuctioneers for absentee and Internet live bidding.

NEW YORK – Alexis Diaz creates incredible, surreal species that may not yet be found in nature, but are so photographically detailed, so precise that you might believe that an elephant-octopus hybrid, or even a zebra-chimp, do exist and are currently wandering somewhere around the world. You are just a nonbeliever who hasn’t had the pleasure of meeting one. However, sometimes this precision is used not to adorable effect, but something more sinister and captivating. Like hearts. And skulls.
