**First Time At Auction**

Near East/Holy Land, Byzantine Empire, ca. 10th to 13th century CE. A lovely brass attachment featuring the bust of a figure cast with an undulating border via the lost wax (cire perdue) technique. Capped by a top bun of luscious locks, the youthful figure displays a round visage with annular eyes, a button nose, a petite mouth, and prominent cheeks. She wears a V-shaped collar or necklace and a sash draped over her toga. Two objects, perhaps wings, protrude from her back, while an integral loop is placed at the top for attachment. Size: 1.25" W x 2.5" H (3.2 cm x 6.4 cm)
