Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A lovely bottle that was free-blown from translucent, blue-green glass. A slender, conical neck with an annular, lipped rim rises from the apple-shaped body, all sitting upon a circular, concave base. The fire-polished surface is remarkably crystalline and boasts glistening flakes of golden and rainbow iridescence throughout. Size: 5.25" W x 7.125" H (13.3 cm x 18.1 cm)
Provenance: ex-Herakles, Huntersville, North Carolina, USA; ex-Virginia, USA collection, acquired in Syria prior to 1981

Condition
Encrustations across some of interior, with light weathering film and minor abrasions to exterior of body and neck. Intact and excellent. Great rainbow iridescence in several areas.
