Benito Juarez Signature, PSA/DNA Slabbed & Graded NM-MT 8
Part of a document in Spanish signed by 26th President of Mexico Benito Juarez (1806-1872) displayed within a PSA/DNA slab. Signed as "Benito Juarez" above a fanciful curlicue at lower left. Signed at the Palace of the National Government in Mexico on September 6, 1861, "in the forty-first [year] of independence and fortieth of freedom." Lightly toned and with minor mounting traces verso, else near fine. PSA/DNA graded NM-MT 8. The fragment measures 7.5" x 2.5" while the slab measures 12.5" x 5.5."
Benito Juarez, a well-educated lawyer of indigenous origins, first embarked on a political career in the early 1830s. Juarez served as President of Mexico between 1858-1872, during which time he weathered both civil discord and foreign invasion.
