East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A near-miniature wheel-thrown pottery storage jar with a flat base, rounded walls with an angled shoulder, a deep interior cavity, and a collared rim fit to hold a lid. The exterior of the body is covered with an impressed lattice pattern which creates a rough texture for gripping in the absence of handles. A fine example of ancient utilitarian pottery vessels! Size: 4.85" W x 4" H (12.3 cm x 10.2 cm)
Provenance: private Ventura County, California, USA collection, acquired in the 1990-2000

Condition
The vessel is intact, but has a large indentation around one side that seems to be the result of a mistake prior to firing. Nice deposits on surface and well-preserved motifs.
