Description
This is a genuinely nice example of the classically designed diving helmet prevalently made in Japan and South Korea during the 20th Century. We are unsure of the manufacturer; the original brass ID plate is missing. This is a 3 light 12 bolt style (three window and twelve studs on the breastplate) with a copper body and brass hardware.
This helmet was likely used for many years. Numerous working dents on the bonnet and a pushed in exhaust fitting are relatively typical of helmets like this. All the glass is intact. Eleven of the twelve wing nuts are present. All four of the brails are installed. Inside the bonnet the original air vents are still in place. The bonnet and breastplate thread together just as they should.
The helmet has a wonderful patina. The unmistakable look and feel of a helmet that spent years underwater is very strong with this classic piece of diving history!
All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity. The display stand shown in the photos is not included. The option to purchase one after the auction will be provided.
All items will be shipped with a signature required upon delivery and full insurance either via FedEx or the USPS Priority Mail. Worldwide shipping available. A shipping quote prior to the auction can be provided by emailing your postal code.
