c. 1775 Revolutionary War Period, American Continental Army "USA" Design, Enlisted Soldier's Pewter Button, Larger Size 23 mm, Reeded Border/Plain Back, Design type of Albert GI 2A, Troiani AUSA.sc, With Original Shank Intact, Choice Very Fine.
23 mm. This classic American Revolutionary War Pewter Button has the historic "USA" design on its face and has its full original shank attached (bent over slightly) on the plain back. There is overall light even wear from use with a matte deep pewter-gray face. Its surfaces show extremely virtually none of the chipping or tinpest that so often impacts these pewter buttons. On this example, the surfaces on the front are hard and lustrous, which is a refreshing change from the typical porous examples we've seen. A nicely detailed, very pleasing collectible example of this popular, classic larger size "USA" design Enlisted Man's Pattern Continental Army Button.
